#voicereferendum

Hello,

I am a proponent of the Voice and "Yes" campaign because I believe that addressing the injustices faced by indigenous people is a gradual process rather than a one-time revolutionary solution. Allow me to explain my opinion on the "Yes" referendum in Australia.

Respecting all perspectives, it is widely acknowledged that there is a factual basis for the degradation of human rights experienced by indigenous people due to the actions of Australian colonial forces. Therefore, most individuals engaged in this issue share a common understanding of this dilemma. However, the challenge lies in how we address this dilemma.

To illustrate my point, let's consider a chronic disease within a body. In the field of medicine, proven interventions often involve implementing gradual remedial measures rather than drastic interventions. I use this analogy to highlight the similarities between a human body and a society. If we view society as a living organism and individuals as integral parts of this organism, we can draw parallels to an immune system disease such as cancer, where the body's Défense cells mistakenly attack other healthy cells due to a misconfiguration.

In this scenario, we recognize the dangers of alienation within a society, as it poses a threat to the overall health of the community. By correcting the misconfiguration in the commanding system of the immune system, we can intervene and potentially cure the disease without resorting to the destruction of cancerous cells. The misconfiguration within the immune system is what caused the transformation of normal cells into cancerous ones. Destroying the cancerous cells alone will not correct this misconfiguration; instead, we must address the root cause to bring about lasting change. Failure to do so may result in the eventual destruction of the entire body through drastic intervention.

Similarly, alienation is an acknowledged reality that has contributed to the injustices faced by indigenous people. Therefore, any drastic intervention carries the risk of harming the overall health of society. Creating a Voice for indigenous people is not a final or sole response to this injustice, but rather a gradual process of acceptance and addressing of this historic dilemma.

I hope this explanation clarifies my perspective on the matter.

Kind regards,

Hootan Dehbonei
